SAA multi-site biopharma research network standardized on SAP Ariba for requisitions, approvals, and settlement. PunchOut was selected to give scientists real-time accessto WDS contract-approved items while preserving Ariba approval flows and auditability.

Need

Real-time visibility to contract-approved SKUs (award filters, restricted-item blocks).
Accurate cart returns with supplier part IDs, UNSPSC, UoM, and contract pricing.
Split accounting/project codes and ship-to validation to reduce rework.
End-to-end document visibility: Order Acknowledgement, Advance Ship Notice, Invoice.
Diversity/UBE reporting fields carried through to PO/invoice data.

Wilson Dependable Services partnered with the institution’s Ariba implementation team to deliver a fully compliant punchout catalog integration.

Key solution elements:

PunchOutSetup (cXML) with authenticated ANIDs & user identity; optional SSO.
Cart return mapping (ItemOut) for awarded items only; price/UoM/UNSPSC, tax & freight lines as allowed; block non-contract items.
Order Acknowledgement (cXML ConfirmationRequest) including ship/partial/backorder codes.
ASN/Ship Notice (cXML ShipNoticeRequest) with package lines and tracking.
Invoice (cXML InvoiceDetailRequest) enabling 3-way match and line-level reconciliation; tax/shipping on separate lines.
Governance & testing: config promoted through test tenant → production, schema validations with SAP support; no hosted-catalog “refresh” required (content is supplier-side).

Zero manual touchpoints from requisition → PO → invoice (exception-based only).
